Farm to Fork Chef Challenge

A great line up of chefs kicked off the Farm to Fork Chef Challenge on Sunday under the roof. Greg Piner & Kirindeep Kaur, Sam Gasson & Rawiri Griffin, Ken O’Connell & Dylan Robins, Hannes Bareiter & Astrid Seiler took to the competition stage to prepare an entrée and a main course from a mystery box of ingredients.

The winning duo were Hannes Bareiter & Astrid Seiler, Hannes is the Executive Chef at Glenfalloch Restaurant. They cooked a stunning entrée consisting of a roulade of sole and Karitane crayfish, grilled asparagus, fennel and lemon. Followed by a delicious main course of smoked rack of Catlins lamb, celeriac, roast peppers and pickled carrot.

Judges Fleur Sullivan, Rebecca Fox and Craig Smart said the competition was very close and it was  a hard decision. It only came down to two points between the winner and second place.

A very special thanks to Bidfoods, Otago Polytechnic, Catlins Meat, Harbour Fish Supply, Hunting & Fishing and Bunnings for helping make this event happen.
