Kaikorai beat Dunedin 29-22 to win the premier competition for the first time since 1997.
Midfielder Jayden Spence had a hand in all three of Kaikorai's tries.
Dunedin scored late in the game to add some drama to final moments.
The Sharks dominated the set pieces but Kaikorai carved up out wide and that is where the game was won.
In the playoff for ninth and tenth, Zingari-Richmond hammered Pirates 62-12.
