The most prestigious drifting event in the Southern Hemisphere, the two day Demon Energy D1NZ National Drifting Championship kicked off with Round 1 at Forsyth Barr Stadium on December 2 – 3.

A Southern Hemisphere first, the drifting event took place indoors with cars speeding around a 320 metre concrete track displaying beautiful synchronized skill under the roof.

D1NZ drifting competitions are judged by three major criteria: Line, Style and Angle to form a score out of 100. Congratulations to Cole Armstrong who took top spot in the Pro Series.

Along side drifting there was also the SuperMoto cup, Karts, NZ Silver Fern Rally and spectacular FMX providing plenty of high octane action. Check out this Channel 39 report on the event.

The track has now been lifted from the pitch making way for the annual pitch renovation ahead of next year’s fixtures.
