DVML tickled Pink with $14m injection to city

Concert number seven under the roof this year has achieved a direct spend injection of $14million to Dunedin city and around the region.

Super star P!NK performed at Forsyth Barr Stadium on 1 September to an audience of almost 38,000. The survey results are now in and the outcomes are outstanding. DVML CEO Terry Davies was suitably pleased at yet another brilliant result for Forsyth Barr Stadium, fans and the city. “It has been an enormous year for concerts under the roof. P!NK’s performance was incredible and the atmosphere was electric! Once again, the buzz around the city was noticeable. With Shania Twain still to come, we will be looking at an economic impact of approximately $65m from concerts alone for 2018.”

A snapshot of the survey results: 

• A total of 4,722 surveys were completed
  
• 37,944 seats were sold for the concert
  
• 68% of tickets were sold to people living outside of the Dunedin City boundaries
  
• For attendees from outside of Dunedin, the largest group (51%) was from the Canterbury region, while a significant proportion (33%) came from the wider Otago/Southland regions

Event Satisfaction

• 96% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the event
  
• 95% satisfied with information prior to the event
  
• 88% satisfied with the wayfinding signage
  
• 85% satisfied with access to the Stadium
  
• 87% would be likely to return to Forsyth Barr Stadium to attend a major event
  
• 86% satisfied with the cleanliness of the venue
  
• 80% satisfied with the friendliness of venue staff
  

Economic Impact

• The direct spend by all visiting fans is estimated at $14 million
  
• These visitors stayed an average of 1.7 nights
  
• Average spend of all those visitors who responded to the survey was $540 per person
