Matariki mā Puaka Under the Roof
You can’t control the weather - and Dunedin has certainly reminded us of that over the past week. But having a roof over your head can make all the difference.
Ōtepoti’s Matariki mā Puaka celebration is a much-loved highlight on the city’s events calendar. Traditionally held at Logan Park, but following the intense rain Forsyth Barr Stadium has stepped in to provide a safe and suitable venue.
In just a matter of days, the incredible teams from Enterprise Dunedin, Dunedin City Council, Dunedin Venues and many more worked together to relocate and transform the event for its new home under the Stadium roof. We’re immensely proud of everyone involved in making the transition happen so seamlessly.
During a week when many across our communities were dealing with the challenges of severe weather, it was especially meaningful that this important celebration could still go ahead, bringing people together to mark Matariki and Puaka without interruption.
